As per the Indian ancient education system, and later supported by the famous Piagot’s model, the toddler (Children up to the age of 3 years) has the maximum potential of grasping new information. This means that the child is at the peak of cognitive, emotional, and social development during these early years.

Various neuroscientists over time have proven that the neurons are already created by the time of birth and over the first three years the creation of the bond between these neurons is the highest. In more actionable terms it means that it’s the best time for the development of the child and also the most vulnerable. Any positive/negative incidents, irrespective of Child’s reaction to it then, will have an everlasting impact of the Child.

So as the parent, how do we ensure we make the most of these crucial years? The intent here is not to create a bot who is bound for success in the future, but a well-learned human being, who knows the value of things beyond the shackles of the society. Let’s start it then -

  1. Create a positive environment in front of child (Not just visual.. he/she can hear you from the other room!)
  2. Show him/ the “Co-operative Parent” mode.. He/She will turn out to be an empathetic and socially aware person
  3. Introduce him/her to nature — birds, plants, the smell of things.. he/she will be able to register and recall most of them.. Focus on developing all the senses — visual, verbal, hearing, etc
  4. Develop the habit of storytelling.. the child should always have something to listen to before the good night's sleep. A spin of ancient history and mythology will do wonders
  5. Engage in a form of meditation to grab an early interest in this amazing habit
